What is custom kente?
We define "custom kente" as any variation from our over 100 in-stock kente designs.
100% Hand-Woven Kente
Our authentic kente is hand-woven in Ghana, West Africa, to rigourous quality-control standards, by the most highly qualified weavers in Ghana.
Custom Kente Pricing & Group Discounts
Our kente prices start as low as $12.95 per stole. For graduations, conventions and other group events, we promise you'll be pleased with Gold Coast Africa's free design support, quick order turnaround, and fast, friendly service.
Custom kente pricing includes, handwoven on each of the two sides of every stole:
- 4 horizontal lines of text
- 7 characters per line, or
- a single vertical column of 9 letters
Different lettering can be placed on either side. Additional characters or lines, if possible, can be woven, subject to surcharge. Hand-weaving uses block lettering, but we can embroider fancier fonts, (see below). Custom "Plain" kente, without any lettering, is available at the same price. Allow 4-6 weeks for standard delivery of 100% hand-woven custom stoles. Rush delivery is also available at 3x standard shipping price.
Machine Embroidery New!
For more lettering flexibility and faster delivery without rush fees, we can embroider your lettering on our authentic, hand-woven kente stoles in as little as one week. We use a custom-designed embroidery font with a unique stitch pattern that complements traditional kente weaving. Same custom pricing applies on lots up to 50 stoles, and includes, embroidered on each of the two sides of the stole, up to:
- 12 letters per side
- $.25 per additional letter
Logos and special designs can also be embroidered subject to a one-time setup fee to be quoted when we receive your artwork. Delivery time on embroidered stoles depends on order size and blank availability; if custom blanks need to be woven in Ghana, allow 4-6 weeks.
Free Virtual Stole Drawing
We provide free design services and can email a drawing of your kente stole for you to disceminate to your group. We are happy to work with you until the design is right, and we can offer lots of ideas from over fifteen years of experience to endure your stoles are aesthetically pleasing. Colors
Colors are difficult to match, and we cannot guarantee color-matching, but the following chart gives a rough idea of colors immediately available. Others may be available on short notice, and virtually any color can be ordered with enough lead time.
