Item # 000600
A visual representation of moral codes, political views, religious beliefs, social values and oral history, authentic kente cloth is so much more than a West African woven textile. Genuine kente cloth continues to be used today for special and sacred functions, and is still regarded as an icon of cultural sophistication and social prestige. Each symbol and color used in the cloth, and their combination, posses different cultural meanings. A cloth's caliber is judged by the quality of its yarns, and their technical treatment on the loom. We selected the top most quality threads and double-weave kente, Adwineasa, and some single-weave cloths, in a rainbow of colors. You select for your aesthetic sensibility and needs. Approximately 6 feet x 4 feet, possibly larger. Handwoven in Ghana.
